Weekend start to a late Fall/early Winter modeling project
A year or two ago I bought a couple of nicely built 70' center bulkhead flat cars at a train show in Jacksonville FL. I was really impressed with the fine work done by the builder and I had accumulated a few of the classic Ambroid double kits for this car over the past 10 years or so knowing I would want to built a fleet of these uniquely MEC / BAR pulpwood cars. Finally got inspired to start on the project this weekend.

MEC Ballast Hopper Conversion
Coming soon ! A step by step series to convert a 2 bay covered hopper into a Maine Central Ballast Hopper.
Wow - It's taken me long enough. I posted this on 11-Feb-2010
Now I am editing the post.
I'll start in the new year chronicling the conversion
