Back in production

As I prepped the first two builds for next steps (adding details, readying for paint) I decided to start a couple more. Then a couple more. Now have 8 builds in progress. 6 of the 8 shown in the pic below.
Have four more double kits I’ll take with me to work on once I’m back on the road

Some progress

Hadn't been able to get back to these Center Bulkhead Pulpwood Flats until tonight. Assembling the double kit in parallel production lines Have two more double kits. Will have 8 on the roster when I am done.

Weekend start to a late Fall/early Winter modeling project

A year or two ago I bought a couple of nicely built 70' center bulkhead flat cars at a train show in Jacksonville FL. I was really impressed with the fine work done by the builder and I had accumulated a few of the classic Ambroid double kits for this car over the past 10 years or so knowing I would want to built a fleet of these uniquely MEC / BAR pulpwood cars. Finally got inspired to start on the project this weekend.

I figured I ought to post at least once in 2009..... I am settling in to a newly built home in SC with a full basement and a room in which to work on my modeling projects and over 1600sf of permanent layout space. More to follow in 2010 !
